Notice Board
Interactive Services Extended
Each year Assessors usually issue a Return of Information Form (it may be referred to as a “Schedule”, “Annual Return” etc) to allow owners and tenants etc to update narrative information held in the Valuation Roll, give details of changes to properties and provide basic rental information. Each Assessor will issue forms on the basis of a local timetable and recognising local resources. This year however it will be possible to make your return by using the Interactive Services menu on this website. The Return of Information Form option has been added to that menu and is now “live”. When your Assessor issue Returns why not respond on-line? (Posted 20th April 2009)Revaluation 2010
The first month of 2009 is now at an end and Assessors continue to make progress in preparing for the 2010 general revaluation. Rateable values for the bulk of non-domestic properties will be provided to the Scottish Government at the end of August to allow review of the rate poundage and the various rating reliefs and allowances that will apply from 1 April 2010. To ensure your rateable value is accurate please respond to any request for information from your Assessor promptly.(Posted 2nd February 2009)New Register
Electoral Registration Officers published the new voters’ roll (Electoral Register) on 1 December 2008. This will be used for all elections held during 2009, the main one of which is the election for members of the European Parliament which will take place on Thursday 4 June 2009. If your name is not included you will be unable to vote. Further information is available by clicking on “Electoral Registration” in the menu on the left. (Posted 15th December 2008)Annual Electoral Canvass
Arrangements are well in hand for this year’s annual electoral canvass. Some Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) will begin postal enquiries in August to be followed by door-to-door visits from canvass staff during September. Other EROs will start simultaneous postal and door-to-door work in September. However you are contacted be sure to respond to the ERO’s enquiry to ensure your vote at future elections. (Posted 31st July 2008)New arrangements for postal voting
The 14 Scottish Assessors have also been appointed as Electoral Registration Officers, covering 31 out of the 32 Scottish local authorities (The City of Dundee being the exception). Since 8 February this year legislation has required the ERO to collect “Personal Identifiers” from all existing and new applicants for postal and proxy voting. If you are already registered as an “absent voter” or wish to apply you will have to provide a specimen signature and your date of birth. Letters and application forms will be issued to all of Scotland’s absent voters during February and March. You can read more about this by clicking on “Electoral Registration” in the menu and then choosing “Absent Voters List”.(Posted 26 Feb 2008)
